« I do not come from the continent of Africa and yet …
Their statues and masks have great resonance with me.
I do not think of them as old, inanimate objects with no soul,
but rather as fully-formed beings that have been captured in these portraits.

Their role was to speak to spirits and ancestors.
Uprooted in large numbers, these beings are today awakening consciousness.
My mixed work expresses their memory and their identity,
with the hope of justice and humanity. »
